Named for Bill, Erik's great-grandfather, known as Chi-ininii ("Big Man") by Ojibwe speakers. Coats like his were tools, worn in machine shops, forests and fields by relatives who worked hard to provide for the community. When you put this one on, you carry that work forward.
The shell is 14 oz selvedge denim, woven for GINEW by Nihon Menpu in Japan and dyed with natural indigo. The lining is 32 oz un-napped wool in Pendleton®'s Wyeth Trail pattern; the sleeves are satin-quilted with contrast stitching. Every brass button carries the GINEW leaf, gathered from the white oak Amanda and Erik married under.
Classic barn coat, modern fit, split back. Made to order and sewn by hand at Apparel Werks in Portland, Oregon. Ships in 4-6 weeks.
